They are normal holidays, so they are not very interesting, except for a trip or two.
In June we went to England and we stayed in our friends' house. They live in Forest Gate, and we took the underground and visited the Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, St. James' Park... It was all amazing. I really loved the parks... Well, I won't say anything more, because I already wrote a post about it in this blog when I came back.
In August we went out of Spain again, this time to France.
We traveled by car. It was a long and tired day (mostly for my parents), and we stopped in Burgos for two nights. We visited Atapuerca's archaeological excavations in a guided tour, and it was fantastic. We met “Miguelón”, the most complete skull of an Homo heidelbergensis ever found. It's one of Atapuerca's most greatest discoveries.
When we arrived at France, we start visiting some castles near the Loire river, including one in which Leonardo da Vinci spent his last three years (le chateaux du Clos Lucé). We also went cycling. We stayed in a little inn lost in the middle of Amboise's forest. It was really beautiful, and it was the place I enjoyed the most. There, you are completely surrounded by Nature. The only sounds you hear are the acorns falling from the oaks to the ground (yes, their oaks produce acorns!), the birds and crickets and other insects at night.
The ground was full of mounds because there were moles everywhere. One day, a cat caught one and came towards me, showing very proud his trophy in the mouth. The little mole was still alive. The cat left it on the floor and I caught it. He was surprisingly smooth and he was very, very nervous. In an instant he fell to the ground and dug a hole, and he disappeared. The cat, confused, waited for him sitting in front of the hole, and trying to make it bigger with his paw, but the mole was far away by then.
We had to leave because my sister Sofía started school two days later and we were stopping in Vitoria for the night.
Finally, we got home. Our dogs were very excited to see us again. At first I missed France a little, but I liked being at home, too. It doesn't matter how much do you travel, you'll always feel happy to be at home.
